Here are some other New Zealand Clips with a Dunedin connection that have made their way onto the internet. The first, filmed and edited by Jono Manning on his Flip. Now a Flip isn’t the latest and greatest camera, but it’s cool to see stuff like this hitting the web, and the clip is entertaining. Just an skate at the Dunedin park, with most of the usual locals. Starring Finn Roberts, Hootie Andrewes, Daniel Bridgman, PJ Wybrow, Jack Bryne, Josh Malthus and Andrew Pope
Another lowtec offering is this clip filmed by Josh Malthus around the time of the opening of the Mangawhai Bowl complex. Filmed on a pretty basic Sony, this clip features Justin Keeley, Morri, Jason Parks, Keith Duffy, Dave Crabb and others. You get a good idea of the bowls from this, perhaps better than most photos that I’ve seen.
Goes to show you don’t need much to make an really entertaining and cool video.
Over at VBS.TV they have a doco about the resurgence of transition skating and bowl comps. This is something I’ve noticed over time, from when transition sucked and it was all about street, to now when some skaters are making transition their primary skateboarding experience. Some cool footage from some cool videos.
I have to agree with Lance about “connecting to the next generation”. The beauty about skateboarding is that each generation remakes skateboarding into how they see it. Different things are cool and skateboarding always has a fresh take.
