An overcast changing into a sunny day set the scene for an enjoyable comp at the Oamaru Skate Park. Organised by the good folks at Youthtown and supported by IRROM who sent some skateboarders down to judge and skate. Competitors traveled from as far south as Dunedin, as far north as Christchurch and as far west as Greymouth, making the comp a very competitive regional event for the mid South. Here are the results, clips of the complete Open, from the finals of the 16 and Under section and finals of the 13 and Under section. I’ve kept editing to a minimum so you can look at the event as the spectators would have seen it.
At the end of the day the prizewinners were:
Open
1st – Chey Grace
2nd – Nick Bright
3rd – Andrew Ryder
16 and Under
1st – PJ Wybrow
2nd – Ashley Low
3rd – Jack Byrne
13 and Under
1st – Nico Prentice
2nd – Fyffe Tarres
3rd – Tim Vincent
Best Trick
Chey Grace Billy Mclachlan
Chey took it out with a 360 flip and a nollie heel, but moments before he got his prize Billy, who was filming with Colin during the prizegiving, landed a big spin flip. Strictly not in the twenty minutes, but Chey was a good guy and let Billy take the prize.
Big thanks to everyone who made this even such an enjoyable day.
